Sixteen (16) individuals have been apprehended by law enforcement for their involvement in an intrusion at United Television’s studios.
The incident unfolded during the live broadcast of the United Showbiz program on Saturday, October 7, 2023.
The accused individuals claimed to be representing the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and alleged that the show exhibited a consistent bias against their political party. Their actions disrupted the studio’s operations and left the broadcast in disarray.
Additionally, it was reported that the group had targeted Kwame A-Plus, intending to confront him. This confrontation stemmed from an earlier incident where A-Plus allegedly tore a letter sent by the NPP to the television station.
The letter expressed the party’s dissatisfaction with what they perceived as an unfavorable portrayal of the President and his Vice on the show.
As of now, the suspects are in police custody and are cooperating with ongoing investigations.
The Ghana Police Service issued a brief statement regarding the incident, promising a thorough inquiry into the matter. Further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
