Three officers of the Ghana Police Service have been reported to have secured various degrees of injuries in a gun battle that ensued between the police and some residents in Tamale in the early hours of today, August 28, 23.
As reported earlier by InsiderGH.com, some residents of Tamale stormed the Tamale District Court 1 building around 9:00 am to ensure that an illicit drug dealer whose operations have inflicted several negative consequences on the youth in the area, is properly prosecuted.
According to reports, the residents claim that the said drug dealer is been shielded by the police.
The accused the Police Service for improperly releasing him whenever he is arrested.
The sudden and intense exchange of gunshots between police personnel and civilians has resulted in three officers sustaining various degrees of injuries.
The police have also confirmed that they have arrested thirteen people in connection with the clash.
