A planned outdooring of the Queen Mother of Adadientam community near Ejisu in the Ashanti Region was on Sunday marred by confusion following protests by the youth of the community.
The Chief of the town, Nana Adom Puni told the Ejisu Police that Sunday, June 23, 2024, which was ‘Akwasida’ was meant for the outdooring a Queen Mother they had enstooled some months back.
As the event was ongoing, at the Chief’s Palace, the youth of the town massed up in their numbers also opposing the event with the explanation that they don’t want the Queen Mother imposed on them.
This nearly resulted in violence compelling the Ejisu District Police Commander DSP Patrick Okai Kodjoe to organize and move available men from the station to the Adadientam community to ensure law and order.
The Police engaged leaders of the youth led by one Nana Danso Mensah and advised them not to be lawless but urged them to use appropriate channels available to solve such matters.
Meanwhile, there is heightened security in the town to avert any possible clash between the youth and traditional leaders given the tension enveloping the area.
