ATIDEFE FOUNDATION a non- profit organization, on Thursday August 29, 2024 distributed 2,500 Coconut Seedlings to the people in the Akatsi South Municipality of the Volta Region.
According to Mr Thomas Yao Atidefe who is the Founder and President of the ATIDEFE FOUNDATION, he founded the Organization in the year 2022 to develop Akatsi South through agriculture. “It is my dream since childhood to make a change and positive impact in the life of the people in Akatsi South Municipality and Ghana as a whole” he said.
Mr. Thomas YAO ATIDEFE who is also the Assembly Member for Torve Electoral Area and a former Presiding Member for Akatsi South Municipal Assembly, stated that, his first Coconut Seedlings Distribution Project, 2022 (Phase One) was done on Monday November 7, 2022 where he distributed 610 Seedlings to the people whereby Seven out of 28 Electoral Areas in the Municipality benefited with 60 seedlings each.
He continues that Chiefs, the Hon. MCE, Hon. MP, the Hon. Assembly Members and all individuals in the Akatsi South Municipality who were present at the ceremony also benefited.
The Founder of ATIDEFE FOUNDATION pointed out that the Coconut Seedlings Distribution Project, 2023 (Phase Two) which came with 1,300 coconut seedlings was held on Friday
25th August 2023 at Torve Duwornu. Eight (8) Electoral Areas as well as the Chiefs, the Hon. MCE, Hon. MP and individuals had their shares of the distribution.
Mr. ATIDEFE said he realized that the Foundation is growing steadily and therefore needs a helping hand for which reason he formed Committees which were inaugurated on the occasion of the Coconut Seedlings Distribution Project, 2024 (Phase Three) held on Thursday August 29, 2024 at Torve RC Church premises. The Committees according to Mr. Atidefe, will join hands with him in running the Foundation.
Nine (9) Electoral Areas, Chiefs, Hon. MCE, Hon. MP, Hon. Assembly Members and thousands of individuals present at the colourful ceremony benefited from the Phase Three which saw the distribution of 2,500 Coconut Seedlings.
The Founder of ATIDEFE FOUNDATION concluded that he had no support being in cash or kind from anywhere since he started the Foundation in the year 2022. “It is my own pocket money that I use to manage the Foundation and also all the Coconut Seedlings I distributed from the Phase One to date is financed with my own money”. The Coconut Seedlings are bought from Elubo in the Jomoro District in the Western Region of Ghana.
He appeals for doners to support him in the subsequent Coconut Seedlings Distribution Project so that the Foundation can yield more positive impact in the lives of the people in the Municipality as Coconut cultivation is a great source of wealth.
Torgbui Anatsi V, of Torve Community, among other chiefs who graced the occasion commends Mr. Thomas Yao Atidefe for the great initiative he brought into the Municipality and promised to always support him.
TOGBEGA DORGLO ANUMAH VI
(PARAMOUNT CHIEF AND PRESIDENT OF THE AVENOR TRADITIONAL COUNCIL) could not hold his joy as he added his voice to the supporters of the great initiative.
According to a message delivered by Torgbui Azadagli III (Chief of Tatorme) who chaired the function on behalf of Togbega Dorglo Anumah VI, even though he is not available to attend the event, he is overwhelmed that Mr. ATIDEFE brought such an initiative to the Akatsi South Municipality (Avenor land). He said as PARAMOUNT CHIEF AND PRESIDENT OF THE AVENOR TRADITIONAL COUNCIL) making Avenor a coconut hub is one of his key agendas and he could not hide his feelings too when Hon. Thomas YAO ATIDEFE makes it a reality even though he is unaware it was his agenda.
He said The Avenor Traditional Council is strongly behind him and will support this credible initiative.
He emphasized that, coconut is very important for human use and coconut plantation is one major way to richness in Ghana. “I will support the Foundation to transform Akatsi South Municipality (Avenor land) into a coconut hub” he said.
