Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor, the Member of Parliament for South Dayi on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has expressed frustration over the outcome of the Kumawu by-election in the Ashanti Region.
As reported earlier by InsiderGH.com, Ernest Yaw Anim, the candidate of the ruling the New Patriotic Party (NPP), emerged victorious in the Kumawu by-elections, securing a total of 15,264 votes.
His victory was marked by a significant margin, as he outperformed his closest rival, Kwesi Amankwah of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), who garnered 3,723 votes.
Two independent candidates also contested the election, but they were unable to match the support received by the NPP and NDC candidates.
Taking to Twitter in reaction to the results from some polling stations, Rockson Dafeamekpor voices his concerns about his party’s position in the race and raises important questions regarding the internal dynamics within the NDC.
He expresses the need to re-audit their register and examine the loyalty of branch executives, pointing out discrepancies where branches with nine NDC executives have recorded only 3 or 4 votes. This prompts him to question the whereabouts of the remaining NDC executives.
“The Kumawu results have poured in quick & fast. I was part of the Ashanti Reg Reorganization Project in 2022, but these Kumawu Votes show we have to re-Audit our Register & Branch Executives. We have 9 Executives, but we have only 3 & 4 Votes in some branches. So where are our 9 NDC Executives?” he tweeted.
