The National Communication Officer of the National Democratic Congress(NDC) Lawyer Sammy Gyamfi has revealed that prior to the Assin North by-election, the ruling New Patriotic Party tried to bribe Hon. James Gyakye Quayson not to contest.
In a Facebook post on Monday, July 3, Sammy Gyamfi shared that following the NPP’s unsuccessful attempt to bribe Gyakye Quayson, some party members resorted to threatening him with imprisonment in the event of his re-election.
He further praised Gyakye Quayson for his steadfast dedication and affection towards his constituents, emphasizing that the MP-elect remained resolute in his pursuit of justice despite encountering numerous obstacles.
Characterizing Quayson as composed, self-assured, modest, and courageous, Sammy Gyamfi credited their victory to Gyakye Quayson’s personal conviction and unwavering determination.
Below is his full poste on Facebook:
Folks, not much has been said about the relentlessness of the MP elect for Assin North, without which victory may have eluded us.
They tried to bribe him to back off. When they failed, they threatened him with jail. But in all these things, he was unwavering in his commitment and love for his people.
Always calm but confident; humble but courageous; sober but inspiring; meek but fearless.
His personal conviction and determination to fight for justice against all odds, even at the risk of losing his civil liberties, is the reason we are smiling today.
Join me celebrate the First Gentleman of the good people of Assin North, the Old Soldier, Hon. James Gyakye Quayson.
