Cecilia Dapaah, the Minister for Sanitation and Water Resources, responded to public remarks regarding a reported theft incident at her residence in Abelemkpe, which allegedly involved her domestic workers.
According to her, there are noticeable inconsistencies in the report of the stolen cash from her home. She implies that what is being discussed in the public domain is quite inconsistent with the facts in the original complaint on the case.
In a statement on Friday, July 21, she indicated that she is taking steps to examine the origins of the inconsistencies and will provide a detailed response in the coming days.
However, there are calls from some political leaders urging her to step aside. The Minority Leader, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, is insisting on prompt investigations into the incident.
The flagbearer of opposition NDC, John Dramani Mahama, has also reacted to the development by labeling the matter as “scandalous” and criticized President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for allegedly allowing his ministers to evade punishment in various comparable cases.
Below is her full statement.
