The management of Akroma Gold company limited, a licensed large scale mining company in the Eastern Region of Ghana has made donations to BECE candidates in the Esaase and the Asuboni Rails BECE Centres.
The donation comes as part of efforts by the company to not just give back to the society, but to empower the young people in the locality to prioritize their education.
Schools that formed part of the Centres include; Awenade Anglican JHS, Esaase Methodist JHS, Saafi M/A JHS, Ahantanang M/A JHS, Apradang M/A JHS, Danteng M/A JHS, Owusukrom M/A JHS, Asona M/A JHS, Yakoko Methodist JHS, Nkawkaw-Amanfrom STASS JHS, Ampeha M/A JHS, Winners Divine Academy JHS, Asuboni – Rails M/A JHS, Asuboni – Rails Presby JHS, Asuboni – Rails R/C JHS, Ekawso Presby JHS, Asuboni – Rails Islamic JHS, Akroko M/A JHS, Asuboni Rails Trinity Prep. JHS, Kwadwo Nkansah M/A JHS amongst other schools.
The HR and community relations manager of the company, Mr. Frederick Somuah Obeng, reiterated the commitment of the company’s management to help students achieve their dreams through strategic training and investment.
This gesture follows a recent visit by the Faculty of Law in UCC where they had a preview of the operations of the mining company and got educated on sustainable mining practices.{insert link of UCC visiting Akroma (see more here)} He went on to encourage the students and wished them all the best ahead of their BECE examinations.
The beneficiary schools with students numbering over 500 received Mathematical sets, pens and other writing materials for each student.
The head of the Centres showed their appreciation for this gesture as it was a sign of Akroma Gold’s commitment to improving the lives of inhabitants in their area of operation. They commended the company and touted their benevolent gesture as worthy of emulation.
