A Democratic Candidate in Virginia’s 57th District for the House of Delegates, Susanna Gibson, has been embroiled in controversy amid allegations of engaging in explicit activities with her husband on a live-streaming platform and soliciting “tip” money from viewers.
Nurse practitioner Susanna Gibson, a 40-year-old mother of two, who is running in a competitive race in suburban Richmond, reportedly used the platform Chaturbate to stream explicit content with her husband. The controversy stems from more than a dozen videos that were archived on a site called Recurbate in September 2022, a period following her official entry into the race. The most recent videos were archived on Sept. 30, 2022, as reported by The Washington Post on Monday.
While the videos are no longer accessible on Recurbate, they were initially brought to the public’s attention by a GOP operative who tipped off The Washington Post. The outlet confirmed the existence of two live videos on a non-password protected site.
Gibson’s actions allegedly violated Chaturbate’s terms and conditions, as she is accused of soliciting tips in exchange for specific explicit acts, claiming that the funds raised were for a “good cause.” In one video, she mentioned the possibility of performing acts in a “private room” for viewers who provided additional “tokens.”
Gibson’s campaign has yet to provide a response to inquiries from Fox News Digital regarding these allegations.
In response to the controversy, Gibson asserted that the incident constitutes an “illegal invasion of my privacy designed to humiliate me and my family.” She added, “It won’t intimidate me and it won’t silence me. My political opponents and their Republican allies have proven they’re willing to commit a sex crime to attack me and my family because there’s no line they won’t cross to silence women when they speak up.”
Gibson’s attorney, Daniel P. Watkins, suggested that the dissemination of these videos could potentially violate the state’s revenge porn law, a Class 1 misdemeanor, and stated that they are actively collaborating with state and federal law enforcement agencies.
The upcoming Nov. 7 election will see Gibson facing off against her GOP opponent, David Owen, as she continues to grapple with the fallout from these allegations.
