President Akufo-Addo’s long-time driver, Joseph Addo, has clinched the position of parliamentary candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in La Dadekotopon.
In a closely contested primary, Addo secured 664 votes, surpassing his closest rival, Solomon Kotey Niikio, who garnered 555 votes.
Following the resignation of the initially elected candidate, Dr. Gerald Joseph Tetteh, due to personal reasons, the NPP’s National Executive Committee authorized a primary election in the constituency.
Joseph Addo, with over two decades of service as President Akufo-Addo’s driver, declared his candidacy following Tetteh’s departure.
Notably, Joseph Addo recently contributed an office complex on the Ako Adjei Road to the party, addressing the absence of a permanent office space, which had previously led party officials to operate from rented quarters.
During the donation, Addo emphasized the significance of the gesture in bolstering the party’s efforts to wrestle power from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the constituency.
It’s worth mentioning that the NPP lost the La Dadekotopon seat to the NDC’s Rita Naa Odoley Sowah in the 2020 elections.
