In a heart-wrenching incident, 18-year-old Georgina Agyeman tragically lost her life to sexual assault. The devastating incident occurred over the weekend in Anwiankwanta, a community situated within the Bekwai Municipal area of the Ashanti Region.
Reports indicate that Georgina Agyeman’s lifeless body was discovered in an uncompleted building located in Abenkyim, a suburb of Anwiankwanta.
Her pants had been used to strangle her, her buttocks were exposed, and her jeans trousers partially removed, painting a harrowing scene. Bloodstains on her body and the floor where she was found point to a gruesome ordeal.
The distressing saga began when Georgina failed to return home after work on a Friday evening, causing grave concern among her family and community members.
In response, her family initiated a search for her, which ultimately led to the discovery of her lifeless body in the uncompleted building on Saturday at 4 pm.
Frank Awuah, the Assembly Member for the area, confirmed the incident on radio, shedding light on the distressing circumstances.
“The deceased was half naked when her body was found in the uncompleted building close to her home. Some residents in the area suspect she was raped, killed at a different location but was dumped in the building,” he revealed.
Expressing solidarity with the suspicions of his constituents, Awuah emphasized, “I side with my people on their suspicions because I also believe the young woman was raped and killed by some unidentified assailants.”
The police have taken charge of the situation, depositing the deceased’s body at a morgue in the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi, pending an autopsy.
An ongoing police investigation aims to uncover the circumstances and causes surrounding this tragic incident, shedding light on the heinous crime that has shaken the community.
