The Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, officially submitted the presidential nomination for the party’s flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, on Monday, September 9, 2024.
During the submission process at the Electoral Commission’s office, Asiedu Nketiah presented all required documents, including a completed nomination form, a bank draft for the filing fees, photographs, and details of Mahama’s running mate, Professor Naana Jane Opoku Agyemang.
Asiedu Nketiah took the opportunity to praise the Electoral Commission for streamlining the process by making nomination forms available online.
“We have brought with us a duly completed nomination form, and let me commend you for making the forms available online so we did not have to come here to pick physically,” he said.
Earlier the same day, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), also submitted his nomination forms, officially setting the stage for a high-stakes contest in Ghana’s upcoming presidential election.
With the filing completed, the race for the presidency is intensifying as both major political parties position their candidates for the 2024 elections.
