Director of Elections and IT for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, has taken issue with Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s narrative about his concession in the December elections.
Dr. Bawumia had earlier asserted that he conceded defeat to prevent heightened tensions in the country, despite opposition from his campaign team.
However, Dr Omane Boamah has refuted this claim, suggesting that the concession could have come much earlier.
Dr Omane Boamah further attributed part of the delay to what he described as inefficiencies within the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) collation system.
He argued that if the NPP’s system had been as effective as the NDC’s, Dr. Bawumia could have conceded on election night.

The Election Night Shellacking of Bawumia & the NPP Party
———————————————————————
With over 37,000 presidential results from polling stations collated by our National Elections and IT Directorate ‘way’ before 10pm on election night, Bawumia was at a paltry 41.21%
Why will he not concede the following day?
Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia actually delayed!
Because he could have conceded that night IF AND ONLY IF the NPP Collation system was as fast as ours.
Relatedly, the incompetent Electoral Commission Ghana gazetted the results of the presidential elections on 20th December, 2024.
