The Managing Director of Intercity STC Coaches Limited, Nana Akomea, has revealed that Vice President and New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, becomes noticeably uneasy whenever his past statements are replayed.
In an interview with 3 FM’s Johnnie Hughes on Thursday, June 6, 2024, Akomea disclosed that Bawumia’s discomfort is evident during these moments.
“Bawumia is not happy,” Akomea stated when asked about the Vice President’s reaction to his old tapes. He elaborated that any politician who has not fully delivered on their promises would feel uncomfortable hearing their past commitments and statements.
“If we play John Mahama’s tapes from 2012 and 2013 and so on, he will not be happy, so Bawumia is not happy,” he added.
Discussing the upcoming 2024 election, Akomea highlighted the key differences between Dr. Bawumia and his main contender, John Dramani Mahama of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
He noted that Mahama has already had the opportunity to serve as President and argued that the next mandate should be given to Dr. Bawumia. According to Akomea, Bawumia possesses the innovative policies necessary to transform Ghana into a thriving business hub.
“But the difference is that John Mahama was in charge; it was his government, and he had the mandate of the country as President. The Executive authority in this country is vested in the President. Bawumia has never been President,” Akomea emphasized, suggesting that Dr. Bawumia’s fresh perspective and untested leadership could be advantageous for Ghana’s future.
