Kennedy Agyapong, a Member of Parliament (MP) representing the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has once again vehemently denied any involvement in the murder of investigative journalist Ahmed Suale.
These assertions came in response to suggestions that the murder of Ahmed Suale might negatively impact the NPP’s prospects in the 2024 election if Ken were to become the party’s presidential candidate.
Ken addressed this matter during an interview on Kessben TV on Monday, September 18, 2023. He indicated that Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, one of his competitors in the NPP’s flagbearer race, should be aware of the identity of the person responsible for Suale’s killing, given his position as the head of the Police Council.
In Twi, Ken expressed his frustration, stating, “Those who wrote the 10 sins (of Ken Agyapong) in support of Bawumia, he (Bawumia) is the vice president, he is the head of the police council, they know the killers of Ahmed Suale, why have they not spoken out? And they are coming to blame me for it.”
Furthermore, the presidential hopeful raised concerns about the government’s ability to solve the case, suggesting that if the government truly doesn’t know the identity of Ahmed Suale’s killer, it signifies a failure in its national security structure.
He questioned, “If you are a government and your national security (architecture) does not know the person who killed Ahmed Suale, then it means you don’t know what you are doing. Is this one of the ten sins of Kennedy Agyapong?”
Regarding Ahmed Suale’s murder, it’s important to note that he was tragically assassinated in Madina on Wednesday, January 16, 2019, by two unidentified assailants.
They shot him twice in the chest and once in the neck after breaking into his car. The Ghana Police Service has been conducting an ongoing investigation into his murder, but as of now, no arrests have been made.
Kennedy Agyapong has faced accusations related to Suale’s murder because he had previously encouraged people to physically confront Suale on live television after revealing his identity and address.
