NDC Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya West constituency,Hon.Gizella Abogtui Tetteh underscored the need for vocational training to be given prompt attention considering its potential bridge and the gab between rich and poor thus to address unemployment.
The program dubbed “AsumiApa” as in Awutu dialect which denotes Edwumapa in Fante and GoodWork in the English language.
This skilled training serves as a Good Project which will help to develop marketable, relevant and job seekers within the Awutu Senya west Constituency.
This life changing programme was launched on the 24th December 2022 at Odumasi Babianiha
From the stables of the MP 40 Sewing machines and 16 hair dryers were distributed to almost 40 dressmakers and 16 hairdressers who have completed their skill learning programme.
The MP in her humanitarian intervention supported 35 young ladies who their registration fees were paid to commence skilled learning in various haf areas such as sewing, Hairdressing, Catering Services and Decorations etc.
Previously, about 40 sewing machines and hair dryers were shared over the period between 2020 and 2021.
During the launch, the logo for the AsumiApa Training Programme was unveiled which indicates the best is yet to come from the AsimiApa Project for the citizenry to be self- reliant.
At the launch of the programme, over 20 youth who were sponsored at DTI under the Mastercard Foundation who were present to testify to the great works of the Member of Parliament.
The MP admonished the graduands to use the skills acquired to develop themselves and offer assistance to others to help reduce unemployment in the constituency.
The Chief of the Area heaped praises and thanked the Hon. Gizella Tetteh-Agbotui for the initiative of AsumiApa Training Programme and charged the constituents to give their unflinching supports to the MP to continue with the good works.
The TVET Co-ordinator for the District (Mad. Esther Appiah-Kubi) was also present to advise parents and everyone to take TVET Education serious as the blue print since its the driving force of the economy in this current dispensation of economic hardship.
Those present to grace the occasion were Constituency Chairman, Captain Nathaniel Kojo Anderson; Secretary (Mr. Richard Gator); Organizer,(Mr. Ryback Salifu Adams); Deputy Secretary (Mr. Godwin Aziz Agyemang); Mr. Ibrahim Andoh, Mad. Adiza Seidu Antoh and all executive members.
