One of the police officers being investigated over the alleged plot to remove the current Inspector General of Police (IGP) in a leaked tape, COP Alex Mensah, has accused Dr George Akuffo Dampare of gagging the mouths of his subjects.
According to COP Alex Mensah, his assertion that the Service has been mismanaged under the supervision of Dr George Akuffo Dampare stems from this reason.
“I’ve insisted that he is not managing the Service very well. Why, because now, as we speak, he has shut up the mouths of every police officer, including the Public Affairs Department. Nobody speaks,” he said.
He made this known when he appeared before the Parliamentary Committee set up by the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, to investigate the planned ousting of the IGP on Friday, September 1, 2023.
COP Alex Mensah has, however, clarified that he has no personal contention with his superior but engages in professional disagreement.
“As I sit here, I don’t have any dad blood but what I do is, I speak my mind whether you like it or not.”
“You are my boss and you do what I don’t like, I’ll tell you and you decide to hate me for that, that is your matter,” he added when he appeared before the committee on Thursday, August 31.
