The President of the NDC Professional Forum, Sam Pee Yalley, has called on the incoming National Democratic Congress (NDC) government to retain Alban Bagbin as Speaker of Parliament.
Speaking at an event organized by the NDC Professional Forum, Mr. Yalley emphasized that Bagbin’s experience and leadership are critical in managing the affairs of the current one-sided Parliament.
“We want to be the first to dare say that our members of Parliament dare not make any mistake in changing you. We are not just making a political call,” Mr. Yalley stated.
He highlighted the Forum’s research and connection with grassroots concerns, underscoring the widespread belief that Bagbin’s leadership is indispensable in the current parliamentary setup.
“We have researchers among us, we have persons who are on the ground and know what the ordinary man feels and knows, and we have come to the conclusion that you’ll be needed more in this one-sided Parliament,” he explained.
Mr. Yalley further praised Bagbin’s ability to prioritize Ghana’s interests, expressing confidence in his leadership over the next four years.
“We believe that you can live above all things, and because of our firm belief in you—that for you, Ghana comes first. Head on, Mr. Speaker, sometimes man proposes and God disposes, but I agree with the Reverend Minister that the four years is for you to lead Parliament,” he said.
He concluded by reaffirming the commitment of the NDC Professional Forum to support Bagbin’s initiatives and provide constructive feedback.
“We, the NDC Professional Forum, would double our effort in supporting everything that you do and give you feedback,” Mr. Yalley assured.
Alban Bagbin has served as Speaker of Parliament since 2021, bringing decades of experience to the role and earning respect across the political spectrum.
