The Volta Regional Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Hon. James Gunu has stated that the Jean Mensah-led Electoral Commission of Ghana is unprepared for the Exhibition of Voters Register which started today.
According to Mr. James Gunu, the EC is have divided attention and is thorn between the ongoing Voter Register Exhibition Exercise and the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP’s) November 4 Presidential primaries.
He further likened the situation to a man’s wife and his father drowning at the same time.
Mr. Gunu stated that the EC should have organised Regional Inter-Party Advisory Committee and District Inter-Party Advisory Committee meetings before starting the voter’s register exhibition exercise.
He noted that some of the challenges the exercise is facing even on the first day are due to improper planning on the side of the EC and failure to consult the necessary stakeholders before starting the exercise.
He called on Ghanaians, especially those who had ID cards in 2020 but did not see their names in the Voter’s Register, those who recently registered, and those who have transferred their votes to make sure they all go to their respective polling stations to check and be sure that their names are in the Voter’s Register.
