Hon. James Gunu, the Volta Regional Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has called on Ghanaians to reject the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the December 7 elections, accusing them of economic mismanagement and corruption.
Speaking in an interview on Keta-based Jubilee Radio, monitored by InsiderGH.com, Mr. Gunu urged voters to take a firm stance against what he described as 8 years of incompetence.
He alleged that the NPP government had misappropriated significant sums of state funds. “If any NPP member brings money on December 7, take it, because it’s yours, but vote against them massively,” he added.
Speaking on the NDC’s final rally currently underway in Madina today, Mr. Gunu emphasized the party’s extensive nationwide campaign and expressed confidence in a resounding victory. “Even today, people’s minds and hearts are already in line, waiting to vote out the NPP,” he remarked.
Mr. Gunu criticized the NPP’s tenure, citing skyrocketing unemployment, a struggling economy, and a rapidly depreciating currency. According to him, despite access to substantial loans and revenue streams, he claimed, the government had failed to alleviate the plight of ordinary Ghanaians.
Focusing on the Volta Region, Hon. Gunu argued that the area has historically seen significant development only under NDC administrations. He accused the NPP of neglecting the region during its eight years in power, claiming there have been no major developmental projects under their leadership.
The Regional Secretary urged residents of the Volta Region and Ghanaians nationwide to vote for H.E. John Dramani Mahama as Ghana’s next president. He also appealed for support for the NDC’s Parliamentary candidates, assuring that their election would enable the implementation of key initiatives, including a 24-hour economy, the establishment of a Women Development Bank, training one million youth in coding, and creating jobs for the unemployed.
