Dr. Kwabena Duffuor, a former Minister for Finance and Economic Planning, has expressed strong support for John Dramani Mahama, describing him as the ideal leader to steer Ghana toward a brighter future.
Dr. Duffuor commended Mahama’s leadership qualities and his proven track record, asserting that these attributes make him the most capable candidate to address the pressing challenges facing the nation.
He specifically emphasized Mahama’s ability to revive Ghana’s struggling economy, which he claimed has been mismanaged under the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
“Bawumia was a young man under me as a governor. Former president Mahama was the vice president when I was the finance minister. One has become president, and the other one has not become president. I am saying that the one who became president has a superior economic record; haven’t I told you that?” Dr. Duffuor remarked during an interview on Kumasi-based Ultimate FM.
“So, what else do you want me to say? That’s why we are resetting. A superior economic record has been destroyed by the NPP. So, there’s a need to reset,” he added, highlighting the NDC’s agenda to restore Ghana’s economy.
Dr. Duffuor also drew attention to the statistical evidence supporting the NDC’s superior economic management compared to the NPP, citing indicators such as economic growth and inflation rates as proof.
“I will give you all the figures. From economic growth to inflation, we [the NDC government] have performed better. We understand the issues better. And one of my principles has been to think through the economy carefully and think through how we can improve upon the economy,” he said.
He reiterated the NDC’s expertise and experience in economic governance, noting, “How do we do this to save society? I have a think tank; we have been doing this for years. So, the NDC has the experience and skills to turn the economy around, and it’s been done before. So the records are there.”
Dr. Duffuor’s endorsement reinforces the NDC’s campaign narrative of presenting Mahama as a leader with a track record of results and a vision for revitalizing Ghana’s economy.
