Member of Parliament for Akyem Swedru in the Eastern Region, Kennedy Nyarko Osei has called on Ghanaians to also ask for the reversal of the sale of SSNIT shares in the erstwhile Golden Tulip now Lancaster Hotel.
His call comes after a spirited fight against SSNIT, which has ended the sale of 60% of its shares in four of its hotels in the country.
In a post on social media, Kennedy Nyarko Osei said, “I will encourage the labour unions to use same interest and force they have shown in the sale of the 60% shares of SSNIT in those 4 Hotels and prevail on SSNIT to reverse the sale of its shares in 2023 in Golden Tulip to Lancaster which is a Lebanese owned. Or they are not interested in that one because it was sold to a foreigner?”.
SSNIT has announced that it has decided to cancel the sale of its shares in four of its hotels to Rock City.
This was after Rock City Hotel withdrew its bid for the shares.
Prior to this decision, Organized Labour had declared a nationwide strike for public servants; a strike action in which other labour unions joined in full force to force the government to rescind its decision to sell.
