Ghanaian actor and politician, Fred Nuamah, has revealed the driving force behind his withdrawal from the NDC parliamentary primaries in Ayawaso West Wuogon.
He communicated his decision to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) leadership through a letter on Tuesday, August 8, 2023, citing his withdrawal as a move to foster unity within the party.
During an interview on 3FM, Fred Nuamah disclosed that he was invited to join the NDC’s national campaign team, prompting him to prioritize the national campaign over the parliamentary contest due to time constraints.
He explained that he and his team collectively decided that he should support the national campaign, which he couldn’t effectively do alongside the parliamentary race.
He clarified that although he withdrew from the parliamentary race, he remains committed to Ayawaso West Wuogon. He aims to contribute to the NDC’s success in the 2024 elections by aiding the national campaign efforts, similar to his involvement in the 2012 campaign.
Fred Nuamah expressed his support for John Dumelo, his former political rival for the Ayawaso West Wuogon parliamentary slot.
By withdrawing his candidacy, Nuamah has thrown his weight behind Dumelo’s bid for the NDC’s parliamentary candidate position for the upcoming 2024 elections.
