As the December 7th elections draw near, Hon. James Gunu, Volta Regional Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has issued a passionate call for what he describes as a “voter uprising” to dismantle the “wicked and corrupt” administration of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
In a compelling statement, Mr. Gunu highlights the critical juncture at which Ghana finds itself, urging citizens to recognize the rampant corruption, economic mismanagement, and disregard for the welfare of ordinary Ghanaians that he attributes to the current leadership.
He contends that the Nana Addo-Bawumia administration has brought unprecedented hardship to the nation through a series of scandals and failed policies.
He accused the administration of collapsing indigenous businesses and causing a dramatic rise in the cost of living. Highlighting scandals such as the PDS debacle, the Agyapa Royalties controversy, and the botched fight against illegal mining (galamsey), Gunu painted a picture of a government mired in corruption and incompetence.
According to Mr. Gunu, the scale of corruption under the current administration is worse than the conditions that led to the June 4th revolution in 1979.
He believes that the citizens of Ghana must exercise their democratic rights to vote out what he describes as an oppressive regime. “The stakes are too high; the survival of our nation’s values and the future of our children hang in the balance,” he warned.
Mr. Gunu’s message is that this election is more than just a vote; it is a call to action. He urged Ghanaians to mobilize, inform, and inspire each other to take to the polls and voice their rejection of corruption, nepotism, and failed leadership. “It is a patriotic duty to safeguard our democracy and demand accountability from those who seek to lead us,” he emphasized.
The Volta Regional Secretary of the NDC calls for a voter uprising on December 7 that will send a powerful message to those in power, reminding them that the sovereignty of Ghana lies with its people. “Together, we can bring about the change our country desperately needs. Let us rise, vote, and reclaim our beloved Ghana from the clutches of the wicked and corrupt Nana Addo-Bawumia led NPP government,” he concluded.
