Godwin Ako Gunn, the Deputy National Communications Officer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), has expressed his dissatisfaction with the conduct of Dr. Ernest Addison, the Governor of the Central Bank. While offering his perspective, Ako Gunn urged for more respectful discourse in public discussions.
During an interview on Rainbow Radio 87.5 FM’s “Nyankonton Mu Nsem,” Ako Gunn criticized Dr. Addison, characterizing him as an arrogant and disrespectful public official.
He expressed his belief that the governor’s behavior demonstrated a lack of self-respect and respect for the citizens he serves.
Ako Gunn stated, “It is unfortunate that the governor has chosen to disrespect Ghanaians. He opened his mouth and made reckless and irresponsible remarks about people whose taxes pay him. Hooligans are lawless people, and describing taxpayers who pay his monthly salary demonstrates how disrespectful he is.”
While sharing his thoughts, Ako Gunn clarified that his intention was not to insult Dr. Addison but rather to emphasize the importance of respectful dialogue.
He mentioned that he would have used stronger language if he were not a communicator for the NDC.
The recent exchange between Ako Gunn and Dr. Addison stems from the Minority’s march to the Central Bank’s headquarters on October 3, during which they called for the resignation of Dr. Addison and his deputies due to concerns over the bank’s financial records. In response, Dr. Addison deemed the demonstration unnecessary and affirmed that neither he nor his deputies had any intention to resign.
