Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, the Inspector General of Police, commended the police officers deployed to supervise the by-elections in Kumawu.
Throughout the elections on Tuesday, May 23, Dr. Dampare and his men actively patrolled the constituency, ensuring a peaceful and lawful electoral process.
The results of the polls revealed a significant victory for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidate, Ernest Yaw Anim.
Ernest Yaw Anim secured an overwhelming victory with a total of 15,264 votes, surpassing the candidate from the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Kwesi Amankwah, as well as the two independent candidates.
Kwesi Amankwah of the NDC obtained 3,723 votes, while Kwaku Duah (1) received 2,478 votes. The other Kwaku Duah managed to secure a mere 62 votes.
Ahead of the by-election, the Inspector General of Police, George Akuffo Dampare, held meetings with the leadership of both the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
During these meetings, the IGP emphasized the importance of maintaining control over their respective supporters before, during, and after the election. He sternly warned that any form of misconduct would not be tolerated.
