Boakye Kyeremateng Agyarko, an aspirant vying for the flagbearer position within the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), has categorically denied assertions suggesting his withdrawal from the NPP presidential primaries.
Mr Agyarko is set to engage in a head-to-head showdown with Francis Addai-Nimoh on Saturday, with the ultimate goal of securing a position among the final five contenders for the NPP’s flagbearer role in the forthcoming November elections.
The need for this electoral face-off arose due to a captivating turn of events during the recent Super Delegate Conference. Both Agyarko and Addai-Nimoh garnered an equal number of votes, each accumulating a total of nine votes.
The conference had aimed to select five candidates out of a pool of 10, but the unexpected tie for the fifth position between Agyarko and Addai-Nimoh has necessitated a runoff between the two.
Contrary to any rumours or speculations, Mr Agyarko firmly affirmed through a released statement that he has not communicated any intention to withdraw from the ongoing race to any individuals or media outlets. As such, he stands unwaveringly prepared for the imminent runoff, slated for Saturday, September 2, 2023.
