In a surprising gesture, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, an aspirant for the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer position, has publicly apologized to former President John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Mr. Kennedy Agyapong, who represents Assin Central, acknowledged that he had been overly harsh in his comments about Former President John Dramani Mahama and expressed his admiration for him as a remarkable gentleman.
During an interview on Starr FM, Agyapong revealed that upon self-reflection, he recognized that his previous comments and behavior toward the former president had been unfair. He emphasized his fallibility as a human being and offered an unreserved apology to Mr. Mahama.
“The way he has handled me and how I have spoken harshly to John Mahama, I think I have not been fair to Mahama. He is such a wonderful man,” Agyapong stated during the interview.
He further added, “I apologize; I am a human being. I think if I recount my relationship with him and all that, I want to say is I am sorry.”
This unexpected apology marks a significant moment in the political discourse, showcasing Agyapong’s willingness to recognize and rectify past behaviors.
