Former President and Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), H. E. John Dramani Mahama is set to celebrate this year’s Nugoryiza with the Chiefs and People of Penyi in the Ketu North municipality. The event is scheduled for today, October 13, 2023.
According to a press statement issued on Thursday, October 12, 2023 by Hon. James Gunu, the Volta Regional Secretary of the party, Former President Mahama will accompanied by key figures from the NDC, including Comrade Mawutor Agbavitor, the NDC Volta Regional Chairman, Hon. Dr. James Klutse Avedzi, the host Member of Parliament (MP) and Hon. Eden Agbana, the Parliamentary Candidate (PC), as well as other regional MPs, constituency executives, and prominent party members.
The press release also noted that Former President Mahama’s office has been made aware of the extensive devastation experienced by various communities within Central Tongu, North Tongu, South Tongu, Anlo, Keta, and Ketu South constituencies as a result of the recent spillage of the Akosombo Dam by the Volta River Authority.
The impact of the floods, coupled with heavy rainfall, has taken a toll on communities like Agbozume and surrounding areas.
Mr. James Gunu also revealed that as a response to the pressing needs of these affected communities, H.E. John Mahama has already initiated donations of relief items and will make a stopover in one of the affected communities within South Tongu Constituency today, to offer his support and express his sympathy to the people affected by the significant devastation.

H.E JOHN MAHAMA TO CELEBRATE THE 2023 NUGORYIZA WITH THE CHIEFS AND PEOPLE OF PENYI.
The Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress(NDC) is scheduled to celebrate this year’s Nugoryiza with the Chiefs and People of Penyi in the Ketu North municipality on Friday, October 13, 2023.
President John Mahama will be joined by Comrade Mawutor Agbavitor, the NDC Volta Regional Chairman, the host MP and PC, James Klutse Avedzi, and Edem Agbana respectively, MPs from the region, constituency executives and other party functionaries.
The flagbearer’s office has been briefed about the devastation caused to several communities in Central Tongu, North Tongu, South Tongu, and Anlo and Keta constituencies as a result of the dam spillage by the Volta River Authority.
The flood that occurred in Agbozume and its environs due to the heavy downpours and the havoc being caused to communities along the coast of Ketu South, Keta, and Anlo have attracted donations of relief items from H.E. John Mahama.
In, a related development, President Mahama will make a stopover in one of the affected communities in South Tongu and make a statement to sympathize with the people affected by this massive devastation.
