On Tuesday evening, an accident occurred at Krispol City on the Kasoa-Winneba Highway involving two drivers, leaving both of them in a coma. Currently, they are receiving treatment at the Mother and Child Hospital in Kasoa.
The accident happened when a Hyundai Elantra private vehicle with registration GS 8091-18, traveling at high speed, collided with a mini passenger van with registration number GR 950-16 as it attempted to join the road after dropping off a passenger at the Second Bus Stop in Krispol City.
The impact of the crash was severe, causing some vehicular parts to come apart, and resulting in both drivers falling into a coma.
Fortunately, the basic school pupils onboard the passenger van did not suffer any visible injuries. However, they appeared traumatized due to the incident.
Nearby residents promptly rescued the drivers and rushed them to the Kasoa Mother and Child Hospital.
Eyewitnesses shared their concerns about the increasing rate of accidents along this particular stretch. Just last week, a student was fatally struck by a vehicle while crossing the road.
Residents are attributing the rampant accidents to faulty traffic lights and drivers’ non-adherence to road signs. The situation has raised alarm among the community, highlighting the urgent need for road safety measures and stricter enforcement of traffic regulations in the area.
