The Transition Team of President-elect John Dramani Mahama has issued a stern warning to the outgoing administration over alleged last-minute recruitments, payments, and promotions.
In a press statement released on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, the team expressed concern that despite prior agreements, the outgoing NPP government continues to undertake actions without consulting the Joint Transition Team.
According to the statement signed by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, spokesperson for the Mahama Transition Team, the two sides had previously agreed during a meeting on Friday, December 13, 2024, to clear all such decisions with the Joint Transition Team.
However, the Mahama team claims the NPP administration has failed to honour this agreement.
The statement further described these actions as being carried out in bad faith and cautioned public officials who may be involved.
It emphasised that any recruitments, transfers, or promotions—some of which the team alleges have been backdated—will be reversed after the formal transfer of power. Additionally, the Transition Team promised to hold officials responsible for these decisions to strict accountability
“For the avoidance of doubt, all public officials are strongly cautioned to resist pressure from outgoing political actors to engage in these acts as they could attract severe consequences when the new government takes office,” the statement read.
