Authorities have apprehended a man accused of smashing the windscreens of several vehicles parked within the Parliament premises.
Eyewitnesses described the suspect, whose identity remains undisclosed, as moving purposefully among the parked vehicles, wielding a metal object to shatter the glass.
The incident occured swiftly, with security personnel stationed at the Parliament responding immediately and detaining the individual at the scene. Preliminary reports indicate that at least four luxury Land Cruiser V8 vehicles, owned by Members of Parliament, suffered significant damage.
Sources suggest the suspect gained access to the premises under the guise of being a preacher. Once inside, he reportedly began vandalizing the vehicles, causing alarm among witnesses.
While being restrained by security personnel, the man was overheard making cryptic statements, saying, “Father, have mercy on them. Daddy, they don’t know what they are doing… It is for your own good.”
The motive behind the act remains unclear as authorities continue their investigations into the incident.
