In a significant development concerning the ongoing investigation into the tragic passing of renowned singer MohBad, the Lagos State Police Command has introduced several pivotal measures to ensure a comprehensive and transparent investigation.
SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Command’s spokesperson, released a statement on Saturday, disclosing that an investigative team had been assembled to look into the death of MohBad, comprising seasoned homicide detectives drawn from the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID). This dedicated team has already initiated its probe into the case.
Hundeyin stressed that the establishment of this special investigation unit became imperative in light of the growing concerns voiced by the public and the preliminary scrutiny conducted by the police, examining the overarching circumstances surrounding the singer’s demise.
“The team, which comprises seasoned homicide detectives, has been tasked to aggregate all allegations, suspicions and insinuations from various sources on the death of the singer,” he stated.
According to him, “the team is to undertake a professional, diligent and timely investigation with a view to establishing facts, clearing all doubts and ensuring that justice is manifestly served through a meticulous process that will deploy all requisite protocols (which may include exhumation).
In a noteworthy development, the Lagos State Government has pledged wholehearted support to the Special Investigation Team in any capacity required to facilitate a thorough investigative process. Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu conveyed this commitment during consultations with the State’s police leadership on Saturday. These discussions centered on the most effective means of expediting the investigation and ensuring prompt delivery of justice.
Additionally, an appeal has been issued to the deceased singer’s family, friends, business associates, and anyone possessing pertinent information that could aid the ongoing investigation. Hundeyin emphasized the Lagos State Police Command’s commitment to transparency, stating that the progress of the investigation would be shared with the general public to the fullest extent allowed by legal and professional standards.

In a concerted effort to address this matter promptly, Egbetokun, the Lagos police commissioner, directed the initiation of a swift and comprehensive investigation into MohBad’s death. This directive was conveyed during a brief discussion held at the Police Airwing Hangar, Murtala Muhammed Airport, Ikeja, Lagos, yesterday.
In a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Nigeria Police Force earnestly implores family members and close associates who possess valuable information related to this case to step forward and cooperate with the Lagos State Police Command. This collaboration is pivotal to ensuring that justice is served and that the circumstances surrounding MohBad’s passing are meticulously examined.
