Charlotte Osei, the former Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana, has been enstooled as Safohen in the Oguaa Traditional Area, Cape Coast.
The announcement was made in a Facebook post, revealing her new stool name, Safohen Nana Ama Kesson.

“This year’s Afahye, the singing won’t be small! Join us @fetuafahye, September 1 – 7. Watch our 7 Asafo groups in awe and wonder,” she wrote.
This position places her at the helm of a traditional warrior group, where she will oversee the group’s activities, maintain discipline, and ensure their readiness for ceremonial and cultural functions. Her leadership is crucial in preserving the group’s heritage and traditions, especially during important events like the Fetu Oguaa Afahye Festival.

Her presence and leadership during these events will be pivotal in maintaining and promoting the cultural identity of the Oguaa Traditional Area. Additionally, her involvement in various traditional and ceremonial duties, such as leading processions and performing rituals, will help preserve the cultural heritage of the community.
Community mobilization is another key aspect of Nana Ama Kesson’s role. She will be responsible for mobilizing members of her group for community development projects, conflict resolution, and other communal activities. Her leadership will foster unity and cooperation within the group and the broader community, ensuring that they work together for the common good.
Nana Ama Kesson will also serve as an advisor to the traditional council on matters concerning her group and the community at large. Her insights and decisions will contribute to the governance and development of the Oguaa Traditional Area. As the leader of a warrior group, she will play a role in mediating disputes, enforcing traditional laws, and safeguarding the welfare of the community members. Her leadership will help maintain harmony and stability within the Oguaa Traditional Area.
As a cultural leader, Nana Ama Kesson will be instrumental in preserving and passing down traditional practices, songs, dances, and folklore to younger generations.
