The Ashanti Regional leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has categorically refuted recent media reports suggesting that the party suspended its women’s organizer for the Kumawu Constituency due to her alleged endorsement of NPP Presidential Aspirant Alan Kyeremanteng.
In a statement released today, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, the Ashanti Regional Secretary of the NDC, dismissed the reports as baseless and malicious.
The original article, published by The Chronicles and later picked up by TV3 and other media outlets, claimed that the women’s organizer, Akua Afriyie, had publicly voiced her support for Alan Kyeremanteng, a prominent figure within the rival New Patriotic Party (NPP).
“I wish to by this statement debunk the publication and put on record that, no such declaration has been made by any of our women’s organizers and no such purported suspension has been occasioned by any structure of the party,” Dr. Amoakohene emphasized.
Moreover, the regional leadership refuted the existence of any individual named Akua Afriyie within the party’s records, either as a women’s organizer or any other party executive, spanning the branch, constituency, or regional levels.
Dr. Amoakohene took the opportunity to reiterate the NDC’s commitment to the upcoming 2024 elections.
According to him, the NDC remains unwavering in its mission to bring about change and rescue the nation. Irrespective of who secures the NPP’s presidential candidacy.
Concluding the statement, Dr. Amoakohene expressed confidence in the party’s prospects, asserting that the NPP would be ousted from office in 2024, branding them as “the most corrupt party/government in the history of the Republic of Ghana.”

DISREGARD FALSE REPORTAGE BY THE CHRONICLES AND SOME OTHER MEDIA OUTLETS
The attention of the regional leadership of the party has been drawn to a malicious publication made by the chronicles and subsequently republished by TV3 and some other media outlets to the effect that, the NDC has suspended our women’s organizer for Kumawu Constituency for allegedly declaring support for one of the NPP’s Presidential Aspirants, Alan Kyeremanteng.
I wish to by this statement debunk the publication and put on record that, no such declaration has been made by any of our women’s organizers and no such purported suspension has been occasioned by any structure of the party.
I also want to put on record that the said name (Akua Afriyie) which is linked to the story does not exist in any of our records as a party as women’s organizer or party executive either at the branch, constituency or regional level.
The NPP will be voted out of office in 2024 irrespective of who gets elected to carry the flag of the most corrupt party/government in the history of the Republic of Ghana.
We have no interest whatsoever as a party in their primaries, and we are only focus on rescuing the country by ensuring the victory of H.E John Dramani Mahama and the NDC come December 2024.
