Gwira Branch Executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Evalue Ajomoro Gwira constituency of the Western Region have threatened to stage a huge demonstration against Regional Executives of the party.
They believe that the Regional Executives are shielding the “failed” incumbent Member of Parliament for the area by recommending the Constituency to be put on hold as far as the organization of the party’s upcoming Parliamentary Primaries is concerned.
According to them, they believe the Regional Executives Committee led by the Regional Chairman, Mr Nana Kojo Toku, are trying so hard to compromise the system to favor the incumbent MP.
They have also alleged the possibility of the incumbent MP buying the Regional Executives with money in order to ensure that the primaries is put on hold in the constituency so that the MP can repair some damages he caused himself.
They warned that any attempt to manipulate the Parliamentary Primaries in Evalue Ajomoro Gwira Constituency is an attempt by the regional executives to hand over the seat back to the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
According to them, the only way to maintain Evalue Ajomoro Gwira Constituency seat for the NDC is to allow an open, free, fair and transparent contest.
They strongly believe that Hon. Augustina Ama Tabuah Kwofie is their surest bet to maintain the Evalue Ajomoro Gwira constituency seat for the NDC in the 2024 Parliamentary elections.
This believe is deeply rooted in the fact that the incumbent’s performance is not encouraging, and that the several damages he has caused in the Constituency will go to the disadvantage of the party should he be forced on the people.
“The chiefs, elders, NDC branch executives, party supporters and members are solidly behind Hon. Augustina Ama Tabuah Kwofie,” they stated.
The Gwira enclaves in the Evalue Ajomoro Gwira Constituency is the world bank of the National Democratic Congress. Over the years, the party has always managed to get huge figures from the Gwira enclave, which plays a key role in the electoral victory of candidates.
According to them, when they asked their constituency executives why parliamentary primaries in the constituency is being put on hold, none of the Constituency executives gave them an answer.
“What they said is they too don’t know the reasons why the Constituency is been put on hold,” one of them stated.
“How can you recommend a Constituency to be put on hold without even briefing the managers of the Constituency?? If not an attempt to impose a failed MP on us, who will do that??” they quizzed.
