Results available to InsiderGH.com indicates that some incumbent Members of Parliament have retained their slot by emerging victorious in the ongoing NDC Primaries.
Kofi Adams
The incumbent Member of Parliament for Buem, Kofi Adams has been re-elected as the opposition National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) parliamentary candidate for the constituency for the 2024 general elections.
The former National Organiser of the NDC won by 11 votes margin.
While Kofi Adams swept 441 votes in Saturday’s primaries, his main contender, Babs Adamu polled 430.
Dr. Zenator Rawlings
Incumbent Member of Parliament for Klottey Korle, Dr. Zenator Rawlings has been re-elected to lead the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the constituency’s 2024 elections.
She obtained 1194 votes out of the 1831 votes cast, accounting for more than 90% of the total votes polled.
Meredith Naa Odarkai Lamptey Addy and Nii John Alfonso Coleman, her main contenders, garnered 268 and 360 votes, respectively.
There were nine votes that were rejected.
Zanetor wrestled the seat from then-incumbent MP, Nii Armah Ashitey after contesting in the party’s parliamentary primaries in 2015.
Sam George
Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram, Sam George, has been re-elected as the Parliamentary Candidate for the constituency.
He once again beat his fierce contender, Michael Kwettey Nettey with 1036 votes in the hotly contested parliamentary primary.
Mr Kwettey managed 626 of the total votes cast.
The election was fraught with allegations of rigging from the camp of the Mr Kwettey forcing the polls to be briefly halted by the Police.
Bernard Ahiafor
The incumbent Member of Parliament for Akatsi South, Hon. Bernard Ahiafor has also retained his slot.
Kwabena Donkor
Former Power Minister, Dr Kwabena Donkor has lost his bid to lead the Pru East constituency. Dr Donkor polled 371 votes. His contender Lord Kwaku Boam got 474 votes while Bright Fiawornu managed 66 votes.
Mahama Ayariga
The incumbent Member of Parliament for Bawku Central, Mahama Ayariga, has also been re-elected to lead the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) ahead of election 2024.
The former Information Minister polled 863 votes in the just-ended NDC primaries.
This means Mr. Ayariga will lead the party for the fourth time in the 2024 general elections.
His contenders Ustarz Jibreal Sahad polled 283 while Theo Braimah Awanzam managed 96 votes.
Dr. Dominic Akurintinga Ayine
In the Bolgatanga East Constituency incumbent, Dr. Dominic Akurintinga Ayine polled 292 votes while his closest contender Dr. Emmanuel Aberiinga polled 121 votes.
Dzudzorli Gakpe
Dzudzorli Gakpe has also retained his position as NDC parliamentary candidate for the Keta Constituency.
