A leading member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Hon. Henry Osei Akoto, has issued a strong statement asserting the party’s resilience and commitment to protecting the integrity of the electoral process in the Ashanti Region.
Speaking in an interview on Nhyira FM, monitored by InsiderGH.com, Mr. Osei Akoto emphasized that the NDC would not be intimidated by any political force in the region. He declared that the party’s polling agents and supporters would remain vigilant at polling stations on election day until results are officially declared.
“The NDC cannot and will not be intimidated in the Ashanti Region,” he said. “We are prepared, and no amount of threats or actions can deter us from protecting the votes of the people. We will remain at every polling station until the results are declared.”
Mr. Osei Akoto stressed that the party is determined to ensure a free, fair, and transparent election process in the region, which has traditionally been a stronghold of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). He urged party members and supporters to remain steadfast and vigilant against any attempts to manipulate the electoral process.
“We have instructed our agents and supporters to stay at every polling station until the very last vote is counted and the results are announced. We owe it to our supporters and the people of Ghana to ensure that their votes are protected,” he added.
The NDC member also called on the Electoral Commission (EC) to conduct itself impartially and ensure that election procedures are followed strictly. He urged all political parties to respect the rules of the electoral process and refrain from any actions that could disrupt the peace or compromise the election’s credibility.
As the December 7 elections draw closer, Osei Akoto reiterated the NDC’s readiness to counter any form of intimidation or electoral malpractice. He appealed to the party’s supporters in the Ashanti Region to show up in their numbers on election day and remain committed to safeguarding their votes.
“The NDC is ready, and we will not allow any attempt to subvert the will of the people. Our presence at polling stations will ensure transparency and accountability,” he concluded.
This statement comes as the NDC intensifies its campaign efforts in the Ashanti Region, where the party aims to increase its vote share in the stronghold of its political rivals.
