The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has fixed a date for the election of the party’s presidential and parliamentary candidates to face off with the National Democratic Congress NDC.
The Council of Elders of the party took the decision after a crunch meeting held at the Alisa Hotel in Accra on Friday 23rd December 2022.
The party has scheduled Presidential Primaries in November 2023 while parliamentary Primaries will be held 2 months later in January 2024 for areas where the party holds the parliamentary incumbency.
The party however failed to agree on a date for primaries in constituencies held by NDC but will be held earlier than the Presidential primaries.
Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Trade Minister Alan Kojo Kyerematen, Agric Minister Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, Former Minister of State and serving MP Bryan Acheampong, MP for Assin North Kennedy Agyapong, MP for Essikado Joe Ghartey among, former Energy Minister Boakye Agyarko are among some of the people contesting the top seat in the NPP.
It is expected that Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia will win but will face a stiffer contest from Kennedy Agyapong and Alan Kyerematen.
