The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has officially announced the replacement of its sitting Member of Parliament for the Nkwakaw Constituency in the Eastern Region, Joseph Frimpong, ahead of the 2024 parliamentary elections.
The decision was made after consultations with the party’s National Council during an emergency meeting in Accra on Tuesday, September 3, 2024.
Party insiders revealed that Joseph Frimpong’s ongoing health challenges would make it difficult for him to participate in the rigorous campaigning needed for the upcoming election. As a result, the NPP leadership opted to replace him with David Asante, the current Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Publishing Company Limited.
In light of this, David Asante, the current Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Publishing Company Limited, has been named as the NPP’s new parliamentary candidate for the Nkwakaw Constituency. Asante, who is a native of Nkwakaw, had previously contested in the party’s parliamentary primaries held in January 2024 but was defeated by the incumbent, Joseph Frimpong.
With his new appointment, David Asante is set to lead the NPP’s campaign to secure the Nkwakaw seat in the 2024 general elections. Party officials are confident that his leadership will help the NPP retain the constituency.
