Andrews Ameyaw, the Chairman of the Nkawkaw constituency for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), has tendered his resignation.
This decision marks the commencement of a new chapter in his political career, according to a letter dispatched to the party. The resignation is scheduled to take effect from September 19, 2023.
In his letter, Andrews Ameyaw articulated that he has chosen to step down to enter the fray of the party’s Parliamentary Primaries once nominations open for non-orphan constituencies.
His motivation is rooted in his belief that he can contribute to the party’s efforts to maximize its electoral support, especially in retaining the Nkawkaw parliamentary seat, which is considered a stronghold, and exerting a significant influence on the upcoming presidential election, ultimately contributing to the party’s mission to ‘break the eight.’
At present, the incumbent NPP Member of Parliament for the Nkawkaw constituency is Joseph Frempong.
It remains uncertain whether he will seek reelection in the 2024 elections, adding an element of intrigue to the unfolding political landscape.
