In a harrowing incident, Police Constable Prince Amoah lost his life, while Constable Martha Ansah, Constable Bright Adinkrah, and service driver Corporal Frederick Cobbinah faced a perilous situation, narrowly escaping tragedy.
The team, part of the Divisional taskforce, was responding to intel about suspicious motorbikes carrying bag-packs.
The pursuit took a tragic turn near an abandoned mining pit in the Aowin Municipality of the Western region, as their service vehicle got stuck on an improvised wooden bridge and collapsed into the river during the chase.
Quick rescue efforts were launched, retrieving Constable Prince Amoah’s body, while the survivors were rushed to Kwawu Health Centre for treatment.
The incident occurred during routine mobile patrols, amplifying the risks law enforcement faces. Investigations are underway to determine the circumstances surrounding Constable Prince Amoah’s unfortunate demise.
The Enchi District Police commander and regional authorities visited the scene, highlighting the inherent dangers of police duties.
