Communications Minister Sam Nartey George has fired back at former Ghana Post Managing Director, Bice Osei Kuffour, popularly known as Obour, warning that he will soon have to account for alleged shady dealings during his tenure.
SamGeorge’s comments come after Obour publicly urged him to reconsider the mass dismissal of Ghana Post employees. Obour insisted that the recruitment process was entirely legal, emphasizing that no employees were hired after the 2024 elections. He stated that all interviews and hiring records were properly documented and submitted to the government in response to a database request.
Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen show, Obour suggested that a careful review of the documents would prove the legitimacy of the process. “The due processes were followed with the recruitment process, and I believe he will rescind the decision if he goes through the documents. So, I will plead with him,” he said.
However, Sam George, who announced the dismissals on Tuesday as part of a broader effort to restructure operations within the ministry and its agencies, was quick to respond.
In a social media post, he dismissed Obour’s plea and hinted at an impending investigation into the former MD’s tenure.
“Obour has offered to help. His offer is welcome. Not to explain post-December 7, 2024, recruitment but rather the shady deals he engaged in as MD of Ghana Post. He would have his hands full soon in explaining his deeds at Ghana Post. He should exercise some patience,” George wrote.
His remarks suggest that beyond the issue of dismissed workers, Obour’s past actions at Ghana Post may soon come under scrutiny.
