The Volta Regional Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Hon. James Gunu, delivered a heartfelt tribute to the late Former President Jerry John Rawlings during the official launch of the party’s Regional working committees at the Volta Regional Secretariat in Ho on Sunday, November 13, 2023.
Mr. Gunu expressed deep sorrow over the loss, stating, “Rawlings’ death has created a huge vacuum and vulnerability for us.”
He emphasized the need for unity within the party to address this void caused by the demise of the NDC founder.
Addressing party members, Mr. Gunu stressed the importance of preserving Rawlings’ legacy, urging everyone to unite and uphold the principles of Flt. Lt. Jerry John Rawlings.
He called for an amicable resolution of internal differences among party members and a united front in honor of the late Former President.
Mr. Gunu also highlighted the significance of adhering to Rawlings’ principles of probity and accountability, emphasizing zero tolerance for corruption.
He urged party members nationwide to stand strong with these values, stating that it is the key to filling the void left by Former President Rawlings’s passing.
Mr. Gunu went further to draw parallels between President Akufo-Addo’s attempts to gain support in the Volta Region and a man expressing love to a woman.
He humorously noted that the President, when campaigning in the region, conceals himself by wearing the shirt of Former President John Dramani Mahama before making his appeal.
As the nation approaches the 2024 elections, Gunu called on Voltarians and all Ghanaians to rally behind the NDC, emphasizing that voting for the party is essential to restoring hope and rebuilding the country for the benefit of all.
