Opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ahanta West Constituency of the Western Region, have urged the incumbent Member of Parliament, Ebenezer Kojo Kum, to resign, citing his ill-health as the primary reason.
In an open letter addressed to the New Patriotic Party Member of Parliament, the NDC Ahanta West Communication Bureau expressed their concerns about the constituency’s stagnant development.
They attributed this lack of progress to the MP’s health issues, which according to them, has evidently hampered his ability to fulfill his duties effectively.
The NDC, as the main opposition party in the region, emphasized the urgent need for a representative who can devote his/her energy and attention to the development needs of Ahanta West.
They therefore called upon the incumbent MP, Mr. Kojo Kum, to prioritize his health and step down from his parliamentary position.
According to the NDC Ahanta West Communication Bureau, the constituency has been adversely affected by the MP’s prolonged absence and limited engagement in critical matters.
They stressed that Ahanta West requires dynamic leadership and active participation from their elected representative to facilitate progress and meet the pressing needs of the constituents.
The NDC’s call for Kojo Kum’s resignation stems from their genuine concern for the constituency’s welfare.
They believe that a change in leadership is imperative to initiate and drive the development agenda forward in Ahanta West.
The NDC’s open letter serves as a public appeal to the incumbent MP, urging him to reflect on the detrimental impact of his health situation on the constituency and take the necessary step towards ensuring effective representation for Ahanta West.
“We write as your constituents to express our deep disappointment on the current state of affairs and the lack of progress we are witnessing under your tenure as our Member of Parliament. We believe it is time for a change, a time to relinquish stress to give way for total concentration on your health,” the letter stated.
