During a recent gathering in Tamale, there was a tumultuous clash between Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, a prominent New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer aspirant, and Alhaji Dagoma, the Constituency Chairman for Sagnarigu NPP, along with his delegates.
This encounter unfolded during Kennedy Agyapong’s tour of the Northern Region, where he convened with delegates from Sagnarigu and Tamale North constituencies in Tamale.
In the midst of the meeting, Mr. Kennedy Agyapong made a stunning claim, alleging that the Constituency chairmen had been offered substantial sums of GH¢100,000 each to influence their votes at the Super Delegates Conference held in August.
This accusation didn’t sit well with the outspoken Sagnarigu Chairman. Without hesitation, he seized the microphone and vociferously denounced Kennedy Agyapong’s statements, branding them as blatant falsehoods.
In no uncertain terms, he declared, “The man is telling lies. He is lying. I am the Chairman of the constituency. I voted in the Super Delegates Conference, and nobody gave me GH¢100,000 to vote. I will not accept such lies from somebody who wants to lead this party.”
The Chairman’s resolute response garnered resounding applause from the assembled delegates, but it also triggered a handful of Kennedy Agyapong’s supporters to resort to insulting language directed at the delegates.
The situation escalated to such an extent that the elders present had to intervene to defuse the tensions. Consequently, the meeting was hastily brought to a close by the Presidential aspirant.
