,l and tKingsley Adumattah Agyapong, Chairman of the UK branch of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has raised concerns about the impact of arrogance and poor attitudes within the party, warning that these issues could undermine its chances of breaking the 8-year political cycle in Ghana.
Speaking on Rainbow Radio 92.4FM, Agyapong, popularly known as Wofa K, acknowledged the significant achievements of the NPP under President Akufo-Addo. However, he expressed frustration over the growing unpopularity of the party due to the “wickedness, greed, and selfishness” of some members.
Agyapong criticized the behavior of certain government appointees, noting that many have become arrogant and fail to treat people with respect. “As it is in Ghana,” he said, “some appointees who have had the opportunity to serve are so arrogant, and people are fed up.” He further alleged that members of Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s campaign team have been unresponsive to party members’ concerns, adding to the growing dissatisfaction.
In his view, such conduct is alienating the very supporters the party relies on, damaging their efforts to retain power. He emphasized that failing to address these issues would continue to hurt the party’s chances in future elections.
Agyapong expressed a desire to be more actively involved in Bawumia’s campaign but voiced disappointment with how the campaign is being managed in Ghana. He stressed that the NPP needs to apologize and reconnect with those who supported them in 2016, acknowledging their contributions.
Despite the challenges, Agyapong remains hopeful, stating that a change in attitude could lead to a landslide victory in the next election. He emphasized that the NPP must not only rely on its achievements but also work on changing its image by treating people with more respect and humility.
“Let us give respect to our people and tell them the truth,” he concluded, warning that the party’s arrogance is its biggest obstacle moving forward.
