Nana Attah Boamah, the founding father of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in New Jersey, has called for a new set of leadership within the national party.
He stated that the NPP needs new leaders due to widespread dissatisfaction with the current administration under President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
He accused Akufo-Addo of failing to uphold the principles of discipline and accountability that he had promised.
Speaking on the sidelines of the NPP USA’s 30th anniversary, which Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia attended, he stated, ‘What our forefathers did is what we are supposed to continue with. The party right now needs good leadership.
“Nana Addo has failed the NPP. Why? He came in and swore to us that he will use discipline and accountability.”
Boamah also issued a warning to Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and other party officials, including Osafo-Maafo, a former senior minister and others, reminding them that the NPP is not the property of any single ethnic group.
“He (Akufo-Addo) failed. Look at what is going on in Ghana right now. The party doesn’t belong to the Akyem people. How many Akyem people in Ghana have registered to vote?
“This is a warning to the Vice president and the party officials, Osafo-Maafo, and the rest of them, they all need to sit back,” he said.
