National Democratic Congress (NDC) 1st Vice Chairman of the Ashanti Region, John Kwame Jabari has questioned the benefit of jailing re-elected Assin North Member of Parliament (MP, James Gyakye Quayson.
The Omanhene of the Dormaa Traditional Area in the Bono Region and the President of the Bono Regional House of Chiefs, Oseadeoyo Agyeman Badu II last week called on President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to urge the Attorney General to end the trail of embattled Assin North Member of Parliament, James Gyakye Quayson.
He also urged the Attorney General to file a Nolle Prosequi to end the trial of the re-elected MP for the Assin North constituency.
Wading into the discontinuation conversation of the MP is the NDC’s Jabari thinks the trial is just a waste of resources just like the by-elections and must be discontinued immediately.
He was speaking on Kumasi-based Ultimate FM monitored by MyNewsGH.com.
“We are going to spend money to prosecute him, the question we should be asking is what will be the benefit to the state when we prosecute him? The Attorney General has discontinued a number of cases, saying it had no benefit to the state in anyway. Aisha Huang when she was arrested the case was discontinued. The A-G has the power to discontinue a case it feels that it’s of no benefit to the state, so the question I am asking now what is the benefit of the prosecution Gyakye Quayson? It is rather going to lead us into spending more money”
“Assin North they spent almost half of the IMF money. They we were on the ground and saw what happened there. We saw Ghana must-go bags of monies. This prosecution is baseless and won’t help Ghana in anyway”, he argued.
